relationship counseling

Welcome

Even in our stressful world, we are capable of attaining inner Peace. We do so by conscious, deliberate Practice, which we engage with Purpose and intention.

As a counselor and psychotherapist for over 30 years, I have enjoyed helping individuals and couples create more satisfying lives.

Life presents challenges. Challenge presents opportunity. Fortunately, we are equipped with innate abilities to learn, grow, and respond in increasingly healthier ways to those challenges.

The counseling/psychotherapy relationship is a supportive partnership in which therapist and client work together to find solutions to problems, heal uncomfortable emotions, learn new coping skills, and increase emotional intelligence. It is my great privilege to enter into this healing relationship with those who come into my practice. Together, we foster the art of Practicing Peace on Purpose.

Finding Hope, Healing, and Wholeness

People seek therapy for many reasons. In my practice, I focus in these areas:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Codependency
  • Life Transitions: young adult, midlife, or elder years
  • Relationship Problems: marriage, family, significant other, friendships, or work relationships

There are many therapists to choose from, so how do you decide?

You want a professional who is grounded in proven therapeutic approaches that have undergone rigorous, scientific study. You want someone who learns about new and evolving techniques.

You want to start a relationship with a therapist who is adept at using a variety of therapeutic tools to meet your unique needs.

You also want someone who is easy to talk to. Martha Tate is all of these!

Martha Tate has guided me on my life journey for many years. I continue to enjoy her inspiration, support, and encouragement. I began my time with her as a shy, slightly overweight and confused young adult. With her wisdom I am now an incredibly happy, confident and well-grounded woman.

Martha has seen me through difficult struggles. When deeply buried issues came to the surface, she didn’t let me run away from them. Instead, she stood by my side and provided unconditional support while I tackled the challenges and became a stronger person.

Her kind, gentle tone provides a safe environment where I feel, even still, that I can tell her anything and will not be judged, scolded or ignored.

I am appreciative for all that I have accomplished on this journey. I can say, without a doubt, that I would not be where (or who) I am today without Martha’s help!
